Large Vintage French Terracotta Olive Jar With Glaze
A beautiful 15.5" tall rustic French Glazed Terracotta Olive Jar, with handles commonly referred to as ears.
Circa Early 1900s.
This large earthenware jar is made of brownish red clay and is embellished with a brownish olive colored glaze on the top half.
Under indoor light the glaze appears dark brown however once outside the olive green color is apparent.
The large round body narrows at the base and at the 6" opening mouth.
In the 17th and 18th centuries these jars were used in the South of France for storing and transporting olive oil.
Today they are lovely for displaying flowers or greenery and perfect for a French country or rustic European look.
Mouth opening is 6" diameter.
Widest part of body is 12.5" in diameter
This item will be very carefully packaged and shipped with tracking to ensure it arrives intact.

CONDITION NOTES:
Very good vintage condition with normal wear consistent with its age. Some nicks and chips from age and use which add to the character of this jar.
