Late 1800s Antique French Glazed Terracotta Olive Jar
A beautiful rustic antique French Glazed Terracotta Olive Jar, circa late 1800s, with handles commonly referred to as ears.
This large earthenware jar is made of brownish red clay and is embellished with a rust colored glaze on the top half and inside.
Round in shape and narrowing at the base and mouth.
In the 17th and 18th centuries these jars were used in the South of France for storing and transporting olive oil.
Today they are lovely for displaying flowers or greenery and perfect for a French country look.
Mouth opening is 5.5" diameter.
